Electronic Mail

Electronic mail is the most useful and most widely used resource on the Internet. It is as easy to use as it sounds. You write a message, address it and send it, electronically, no postage required!

You can also attach files (such as a GEDCOM file) to your e-mail message!

An e-mail address is in the following format: username@server-domain.com. A "server" is a computer that is tied to the Internet. Each server has its own address which is its server domain.

Top level domains in the United States are:

.com	Commercial Organizations
.edu	Educational Institutions
.gov	Governmental Organizations
.mil	Military Organizations
.net	Network Organizations
.org	organizations which don't fit the above categories, such as
	professional societies, clubs, etc.

Other countries are represented by a two character top level domain, such as:

.au	Australia
.br	Brazil
.ca	Canada
.dk	Denmark
.fr	France
.de	Germany
.il	Israel
.mx	Mexico
.nz	New Zealand
.ph	Phillipines
.sa	Saudi Arabia
